What is LOM?

LOM, is an acronym for listen only memory. Computers use ROM or read only memory as well as RAM (random access memory) to run all programs. LOM is listen only memory. In essence, digitized clips of sound bites stored on a flashable/updateable computer chip. It is the audio equivalent of a flash bios rom chip.

Anyone who desires updated information. A consumer who desires to listen to something of interest at his or her convenience. Most likely candidate is anyone who enjoys talk radio.

Isn't this the same concept as tape recorder?

Exactly the same concept, except digitized sound instead of a tape. LOM is more convenient because of size and LOM can be found on the Internet as well as eventually any radio that is sold.

What if I don't have a computer?

LOM radios will be the radio of the future. All radios will be either built with the flashable chip in the radio or with a small port entrance where a LOM chip can be inserted. Much like a PCMCIA card can be inserted into a notebook computer. Infrared or cable connections will allow communication from Internet to the radio to update new audio clips.
